The summer is winding to an end, and it’s the perfect time to work on one more thing this year.
Maybe it’s your health, or a home fix up. Maybe it has to do with being a better parent or spouse. Maybe it’s being more productive, or better with your finances. Maybe it’s a spiritual goal, like reading your Bible, or sharing your faith more.
The only thing is, when you consider tackling this -- whew! It seems overwhelming.
An inspiration I can give you here comes from Dave Ramsey, the popular financial guru who’s helped thousands of people become debt free. His secret for success is, “Knock out a small debt first. Momentum is key.”
So, this can be your secret to success too, whatever your endeavor. Start with something small, that you CAN do. The good feeling you get from that victory can propel you into greater victories!
Set a realistic, achievable goal, something you can be CONSISTENT in working towards. This is so important. You want to create a habit.
And we know from research that it takes at least 6 weeks for a new behavior to become your groove.
Wait -- is this beginning to sound daunting again?
I’ve got you. Email me what you're working on, and I’ll send you weekly check-ins. Support makes all the difference.
Here’s a cool Proverb: “The ants are creatures of little strength, yet they store up their food in the summer.” (Prov. 30:25) An ant is tiny and spindly. But its diligent small efforts, bringing in one crumb at a time, contribute to the colony having a well-stocked pantry.
If you’ll be diligent in doing something small, it will make a difference as well.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful to end the year on a high note?
Email me today, and get started.
(Hint – link your new behavior to something you’re already doing, or something on your schedule. I'm working on doing stretches every morning, and I'm incorporating them into my prayer time. This helps me make sure they happen.)
