Sisters of my heart, I see you.
I see you powering through your day with crazy determination
Longing for your dreams, as for a land across the ocean.
Giving to everyone but yourself.
Pushing the snooze button like a life line.
Soldiering on through yet another crisis, or disappointment.
Walking in a fog of fatigue.
Keeping all the balls in the air, when don’t know how they got there, or how to let even one of them fall.
Being discouraged because you can’t juggle the balls like your friends.
Accumulating good intentions like the stuff in your junk drawer.
Taking on too much because you can’t say no.
Feeling overwhelmed, powerless, defeated, lonely, frustrated, inadequate. . .
Stuck.
I see you because I am you.
Sisters, God sees you, too.
He’s “The God Who Sees,” as Hagar named him after he found her, cast out, in the remote wilderness. (Gen. 16:13)
He’s the one who saw that Leah was unloved. (Gen. 29:31)
The one who saw the misery of his people in Egypt. ((Ex 3:7)
He sees you, and doesn’t want you to be stuck.
When the time is right, he will rescue you. “He reached from on high and took hold of me; He drew me out of deep waters.. . . He rescued me because He delighted in me.”( Ps 18:16, 19b)
When Satan is in your grill, he will get you through. “When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.” (I Cor 10:13b)
But God also wants you to do your part.
He wants you to fight the spiritual battle, and combat the unbelief, the fears, the lies, and the other things that are holding you back.
It’s one of the toughest battles ever.
One that takes energy, motivation and being intentional. . . and you don’t know where to find those things.
The one you put on the back burner because you just need to get through until tomorrow.
Yet it’s the most important battle to fight.
Because when you have a victory, you run large, your heart leaps, your talents expand, you touch your dreams, you fulfill your God-given potential.
It’s worth it.
You’re worth it.
Let me say that again, from the depths of my heart. You. Are. Worth. It.
God certainly thinks so. He’s expended so much effort on your behalf, working in your life, giving you good gifts, sacrificing his Son. And he will expend much more. (Romans 8:32)
Will you expend the effort as well?
